Roller Coaster

The past 3 weeks have been non-stop roller coaster ride, all the while my belly and the baby are getting bigger and bigger...

Nik and I finalized our house repair/construction plans which includes re-routing our washing machine drainage pipe... (the old one is cracked somewhere in the foundation...yes, we live in an old house...yes, we've been doing laundry like college students at a laundromat for 2 years).  We are getting a new hot water heater and new flooring in the utility room.  All this work is happening right now as I type.   In about 2 weeks, we are installing new windows throughout the house.  I have been wanting new windows for awhile.  We live on a fairly busy neighborhood street with baseball fields and train tracks close by.  I am hoping new energy efficient windows will decrease some of the traffic and people noise for sleeping baby and soon to be sleep deprived parents.

Nik and I finally got new sofa!  We had our previous navy blue sofa from 5505 Link Ave days...yes, that sofa was about 15 years old!  It was still very comfy, but it has some minor spring issues...When our new modern sofa arrived the old one went out to the curb and was picked up the same day by our neighbors.  The Navy Blue sofa from Foley's lives on....

We also made are first nursery furniture purchase!  We decided on a mid-century modern style furniture set from BuyBuyBaby that includes a 4-1 crib and very nice 3-drawer dresser with the option of a removable diaper changing top.  The dresser was on sale, plus I used 20% off coupon...so I think we got a great deal.  I also started collecting assorted baby stuff from my mom and my sister...including a Boppy, cloth diapers, clothes, toys, a moby wrap, and a back seat mirror...The pile has started.

Last Tuesday, March 22nd, Nik's grandpa, James William Wood, passed away at home.  Grandpa had been in the hospital with what we thought was another bout of pneumonia.  He had fluid in his lungs, but come to find out, they discover cancer in his lungs and liver.   Grandpa spent his last week of life at home around family and friends with hospice support.  He was ready to go and passed away peacefully.  His memorial service was March 25th on Good Friday at Broadmoor Methodist Church in Shreveport, Louisiana.  It was a wonderful service and I'm sure Grandpa enjoyed it as well.  He lived a great life and was a sweet, loving, hard working man.  Rest in Peace. We will always remember you.

Spring Time Baby Dance Party

Well, I can definitely feel the baby moving around...all the time it seems.  It's the coolest, weirdest feeling!  This weekend, it felt as if the baby was dancing on my bladder...these tiny, sequential kicks that make me want jump from my seat or gasp out loud...ahh! and the baby is doing it now as I type! I think s/he like yogurt.

This weekend was beautiful and typically this time of year, I enjoy pruning back my perennials, pulling up weeds, turning over the vegetable garden, planting new seeds and plants, and mulching. But, it's starting to be a bit taxing on my body to bend over and to carry heavy bags and so on.  I was able to do some trimming and I cleared out part of the vegetable garden.  We still have carrots growing, as well as garlic chives and parsley.  Thank goodness I have a loving husband that enjoys taking care of the yard as much as I do.  I directed him to pull weeds,  I sent him to the store to buy compost and mulch, and on Sunday, he was replanting grass mounds from the flower beds in the lawn.  Nik loves a beautiful lush lawn for bocce!

Here are some beautiful pics of our front flower bed...
